About our Science

The Marignani Discovery Research Laboratory is interested in molecular mechanisms that give rise to 1) breast, lung and pancreatic cancers, 2) neurodegenerative diseases, and 3) molecular processes that permit cells to move from one location to another.

Core Activities

  • Diseases of interest: breast, lung, pancreatic cancers, neurodegenerative diseases
  • Platforms: single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq), scATAC-seq, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, immunobiology, whole genome manipulation, gene-editing (CRISPR-Cas9 and shRNA), transgenic and Cas9 mouse models of human diseases, cell imaging, protein, DNA and virus manipulations, high through-put screening strategies
  • Pre-clinical trials, metronomic dosing, small animal imaging
  • Innovation through technology development and refining
  • Dissemination of new knowledge: peer-reviewed publications, invited plenary speaker, academic seminar speaker, public outreach
  • Mentoring and training of future scientist and medical doctors. Leadership and career development
  • Education of stakeholders: people with diseases, their families and friends, community and policy makers
  • Resource acquisition and management
